Native Americans believe that animals have much to teach us as they are messengers of Great Spirit. In Native American Culture a Power Totem Animal is an animal symbol that is there to guide them through their entire life. Totem animals come through to people in many ways including:

Seeing a particular animal all the time ie. in books, when your out walking, on sign posts. Having a favourite animal or one that you are particularly drawn to, especially when going on spiritual journeys

There are also animal totems which appear when you need them
and stay for only the time necessary. These are helper totems.
They flow in and out of your life as they are needed.
You can also have protector totems that stay with you
for an indefinite period of time, depending on the challenges that you must face.

FOX - Magic, Shapeshifting, Invisibility Fox is a master at the art of camouflage. Like all members of the canine family, they make exceptional parents. The fox's keen sight and hearing make it an excellent predator. Its tail serves as a balancing device when it stands on its hind legs to peer over the tall grass in search of a mouse, gopher, or field rat. It is a survivor, able to exist in the unpopulated countryside. Wolf

Intuition, Learning, Spirit

This totem brings faithfulness, inner strength
and intuition when he enters our lives.
But he also brings learning to live with one's self.

and face our deepest fears.
